Bangkok: Tens of thousands of students flocked to compete in the Mathayom 4 entrance exam at Triam Udom Suksa School, marking the highest number of participants in 15 years. The Ministry of Education and the Office of the Basic Education Commission conducted an inspection of the examination site to ensure smooth proceedings.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phuthon Chantahong Punyacharathamrong, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission, was tasked by Lt. Col. Thanu Wongchinda, Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission, to oversee the examination site for the 2025 academic year. The inspection was led by Mr. Surasak Pancharoenworakul, Deputy Minister of Education, alongside key educational directors and officials at IMPACT Challenger 1 and 2, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
This year, Triam Udom Suksa School received 13,361 applications from across the country, setting a new record since 2009. The school has a capacity to accept 1,520 students, resulting in a competition rate of 1:8.79. The examination is divided into eight study plans, including Science - Math and various language plans, each with different acceptance rates.
Mr. Surasak Pancharoenworakul noted that the examination process was smoothly executed, highlighting the school's emphasis on transparency, safety, and efficiency. The admissions process adhered to the policies set by the Office of the Basic Education Commission, ensuring that students and parents were well informed. Safety measures were implemented, including the presence of medical staff and facilities.
Mr. Phuthon Chantahong Punyacharathamrong announced that the exam results would be released by March 14, 2025. Students who do not succeed this time will have another chance in the regular classroom examination round. The Office of the Basic Education Commission maintains a policy of ensuring quality education in every district, as emphasized by Acting Second Lieutenant Thanu Wongchinda, to provide equal access to education nationwide.
