Bangkok: A female real estate agent has lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Justice, alleging that her ex-boyfriend, a lawyer, has been stalking and threatening her. The woman reported enduring physical assault, threats, and harassment over the past two years, leading her to file complaints at three different police stations.
According to Thai News Agency, the victim, represented by "Ton Or Pen Nueng," sought assistance from the Ministry of Justice. Mr. Sombun Muang Klam, an advisor to the Minister of Justice, has accepted the case on behalf of the ministry. The victim detailed a troubling history with her ex-boyfriend, who allegedly borrowed money under affectionate pretenses and resorted to violence when she distanced herself. She also reported being followed to her workplace and threatened with reputational damage through the release of a compromising clip. Despite moving houses three times, the harassment continued, extending to her parents and friends.
The situation escalated on January 20, when the ex-boyfriend allegedly caused a public disturbance in a bar, further compelling the victim to file multiple charges, including assault, stalking, and hiring someone to kill. The accused has also been accused of impersonating a lawyer on a famous TV show.
Mr. Sombun stated that the Ministry of Justice is committed to assisting the victim by ensuring her rights are protected, pursuing compensation, and investigating the lawyer's conduct as reported to the Lawyers Council. Correspondence will be sent to the police stations involved to expedite the case. Additionally, the Department of Rights Protection is considering measures to safeguard witnesses involved in the case.
