Raid on Pattaya Pub Reveals Drug Use Among Tourists

Pattaya: Police crack down on crime, raid Pattaya pubs after guards attack Chinese tourists, many tourists tested positive for drugs. This visit to the area was a result of the attack on the Chinese tourist on December 27, when security guards from the pub, located on Walking Street in Pattaya City, Chon Buri Province, attacked him, knocking out his teeth and injuring his eyes, cheekbones, face, and other parts of his body. He is still hospitalized to this day. The perpetrators claimed to have connections and reported the incident to the police, but they could not do anything.

According to Thai News Agency, early this morning at 03.30, the administrative officers and over 100 Pattaya City Police officers immediately went to the area and found that the shop was still open for business as usual. There were over 300 tourists, most of whom were Chinese. The officers checked their ID cards, identification documents, and tested their urine for drugs. They found that 39 tourists had purple urine, but no drugs or illegal items were found in the shop. The police therefore took the 39 tourists, 19 of whom were men, to the Pattaya City Police investigators to proceed with legal action.
