Bangkok: The Prime Minister has submitted the list of Cabinet members to His Majesty the King, marking a significant step in the ongoing cabinet reshuffle process.
According to Thai News Agency, Pheu Thai Party spokesman Mr. Danupon Punnakan disclosed that the current stage of the cabinet reshuffle is crucial, with the Government House having already submitted the list for royal endorsement. Mr. Danupon emphasized the need to wait for the next step, which involves the issuance of the royal approval.
Discussions within the Pheu Thai Party are ongoing, particularly in response to demands from some Northeastern MPs for the position of 2nd Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. Mr. Danupon noted that these demands, arising from dissatisfaction with the current cabinet list, require further deliberation. He acknowledged that such demands are typical during cabinet reshuffles, as various members express their interest in key positions.
The Pheu Thai Party is scheduled to hold a meeting on July 2, ahead of the parliament session on July 3, to discuss these internal matters. The selection of a new deputy speaker is expected to be addressed before July 15, with discussions yet to determine if the position will be filled by a representative from the Northeastern MPs or if it will fall under the party's quota. These discussions are set to continue at the upcoming party meeting.
