Prime Minister Pledges Comprehensive Budget Support to Combat Drug Trafficking

Bangkok: The Prime Minister confirmed that he is ready to support the budget in all areas to suppress drugs. The Prime Minister gave policy to police and officers who risked their lives to suppress drugs until they saw tangible results. He boasted that it was done during the 'Thai Rak Thai' government. He confirmed that this government is ready to support the budget in all aspects. He asked the public to have faith and give drug addicts a chance to return to society.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, traveled to deliver a policy on summarizing the results of the interception of drug trafficking by the Royal Thai Police under the government's Seal Stop Safe measures for the 2-month period from April to May 2025 at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau or the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, with Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, along with Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, Pol. Lt. Gen. Santi Chainiramai, Commissioner-General of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, Pol. Lt. Gen. Phanurat Lakboon, Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), and officers welcoming her.

Ms. Paethongtarn gave a policy to the staff who were working. At the beginning, she joked that 'iPads are necessary because we have to look at the names of each person's positions,' and thanked them for their cooperation since the government's Seal Stop Safe measure was implemented about 3 and a half months ago. It is clear that all parties are working together in an integrated manner, resulting in clear and tangible results for the public to see.

During the Thai Rak Thai Party government, which successfully suppressed drugs, some of which had production sites in Thailand, but now they have moved their production bases to neighboring countries. Production capacity has increased, and technology has come to help. Today, we can intercept and suppress a lot of them. We must thank the officers from all sectors and those who provided information, allowing us to arrest and suppress so many drugs. And of course, now we must accelerate our efforts to continue this matter in order for the country to develop, because drugs are a factor that hinders children from becoming addicted to drugs, causing families to suffer, and some families have committed murders to the point of death. Most importantly, we want everyone to open their minds and accept drug addicts back into society. We will give them a chance and a rehabilitation plan so that they can return to society and start over. The public who listen must give everyone who wants to start over a chance, so that the y will be clean and drug-free. We must thank the national police chief, the Narcotics Suppression Bureau chief, and all officers who have made the suppression of drugs so successful at this time.

The Prime Minister continued that whether it is suppression on land, water or air, we know the plan and are prepared to intercept it. He asked everyone to be confident that the government will support in every way, whether it is technology or a budget to suppress drugs until they are gone from the country. He also asked the people to encourage everyone who has sacrificed. He believed that everyone is working very hard and very tired. He wanted them to be strong and motivated to work and asked them to work safely because this kind of work is risky.

Before giving the policy, the Prime Minister viewed an exhibition and reported on the results of drug suppression over the 2-month period from April 1 to the present.
