Bangkok: The Prime Minister participated in a historic photo shoot alongside famous stars to celebrate the Marriage Equality Act.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra took part in capturing this significant moment on the lawn in front of the Thai Khu Fah Building, Government House, alongside renowned celebrities, actors, and influencers.
The Prime Minister expressed that the day marked a joyous occasion for the nation. She highlighted that there will be efforts to promote public awareness regarding equal marriage, demonstrating Thailand's readiness to accept and embrace all forms of love. She emphasized that the country has overcome past legal challenges that did not recognize or protect love. Now, love transcends gender, with laws ensuring equal care for everyone.
Thailand stands as the first ASEAN country and the third in Asia to pass such legislation. The Prime Minister noted the support from various countries, affirming Thailand's preparedness for this progress. She expressed her delight in the ability to take celebratory photos at Government House, symbolizing Thailand's openness and acceptance. An event is scheduled at Paragon Hall on January 23 to further celebrate this milestone, allowing love to flourish without legal constraints.
The Prime Minister extended her gratitude to all sectors, including members of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the public, who have been advocating for this issue for over two decades. She declared that this achievement is a source of pride for all Thai people and offered her congratulations once more.
Celebrities who participated in the historic photo include Woody-Wutthithorn Milintachinda, Moddam-Kachpa Tancharoen, Ben Chalatit, Phu Khao-Boonrod, Keng Thachay, Tang Afteryum, Porshe-Apiwat Apiwatseri, Arm-Sappanyu Panathakul, and Kuen-Phatdanai Setsuwan.
