Prime Minister Assigns Task to Curtail E-Cigarette Use Among Youth

Bangkok: The Prime Minister, Paethongtarn Shinawatra, has tasked Minister Jiraporn Sindhuphrai with organizing a meeting to devise strategies aimed at curbing the use of e-cigarettes among youth. The initiative includes plans to amend existing laws to ensure clearer regulations and a more stringent approach to the issue.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Paethongtarn emphasized the increasing presence and varied forms of e-cigarettes, which often appear in disguises not immediately recognizable as smoking devices, such as decorative cups or boxes. Expressing concern for parents, she stressed the importance of addressing the issue with seriousness and highlighted the need for collaboration with law enforcement to tackle the problem effectively.

The Prime Minister further stated that within the next 15 days, Minister Jiraporn is expected to provide updates on the findings from the meeting, as well as on the progress of amending laws to enhance clarity and enforcement concerning e-cigarettes.
