Prasert Chantarawongthong Confident in People’s Party’s Support for Pheu Thai

Bangkok: Prasert Chantarawongthong has expressed confidence that the People's Party will vote in favor of the Pheu Thai Party, believing it can accept and implement necessary conditions to move the country forward. As Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Prasert revealed he is awaiting the People's Party's decision, emphasizing the significance of the proposal discussed. According to Thai News Agency, Prasert stated that despite being unaware of the People's Party's potential lack of response following the day's meeting, he remains optimistic. He highlighted the importance of the People's Party carefully considering the decision, as it represents a crucial turning point for the nation. The preference for Pheu Thai over Bhumjaithai, as per Prasert, stems from Pheu Thai's ability to accept and implement the People's Party's conditions. Nevertheless, he refrained from interfering with the decision-making process, acknowledging the numerous factors the People's Party must evaluate. He noted that Bhumjaithai also accepted the People's Party's proposal, creating an unpredictable situation. Regarding former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's meeting with Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, Prasert mentioned being unaware of any discussions and noted that the Pheu Thai Party leader has not commented on the matter. Should the People's Party opt for Bhumjaithai, Prasert discussed the possibility of the Pheu Thai Party considering the dissolution of Parliament as a solution to prevent a deadlock. He acknowledged the criticisms surrounding this potential resolution and the constitutional implications involved, stressing the need for future clarity on this issue.
