Chaiwat Vows to Support Anutin for Prime Minister, Affirms General Prawit’s Vote

Bangkok: Chaiwat Thanakamanusorn, deputy leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, declared his support for Anutin Charnvirakul as the next Prime Minister, assuring that General Prawit Wongsuwan, the leader of Palang Pracharath Party, will vote in favor of Anutin. Chaiwat refrained from commenting on whether he would oversee security or the defense industry, stating that these matters have not been discussed yet.

According to Thai News Agency, Chaiwat made these remarks during an interview prior to departing from the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, where he was observing the progress of the government formation. When asked about General Prawit's stance, Santi Promphat, Deputy Secretary-General of Palang Pracharath Party, humorously noted their readiness to support Anutin as soon as they had finished a meal of chicken rice.

The discussion also touched upon General Prawit's presence during the Prime Ministerial vote in Parliament, with Chaiwat confirming his attendance due to the vote's significance. Addressing concerns about the involvement of the Kla Tham Party in the government formation, Chaiwat expressed no apprehensions, highlighting that they are distinct parties and affirming his ability to collaborate as done previously.

Chaiwat reiterated that the entire Khao Na Kai Party is committed to voting for Anutin. When questioned about possible ministerial allocations, he stated that no such discussions have occurred yet. Furthermore, Chaiwat did not provide any information regarding General Prawit's potential acceptance of roles such as Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs or Minister of Defense, indicating that such considerations are premature.
