PM Reiterates Plan to Assist Thais in Israel and Iran Amidst Middle East Tensions

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has reiterated the government's plan to assist and facilitate the safe return of Thai nationals from Israel and Iran amidst ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Currently, 73 individuals in Iran and 18 in Israel have expressed their desire to return to Thailand. The Prime Minister urged those remaining in these countries to stay informed about the evolving situation.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, communicated via social media that the government is prepared to support Thai citizens in Israel and Iran who wish to return due to the conflict. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has laid out a plan to ensure the swift and secure return of these individuals.

In Iran, there are approximately 300 Thais, primarily laborers and students. The Royal Thai Embassy has assisted 35 individuals in relocating to a shelter in Amol, Iran, and another four to a refuge in Van, Turkey. Efforts are ongoing to expedite the departure of 73 Thai nationals, with discussions underway with Iranian authorities to hasten the visa issuance process.

In Israel, about 40,000 Thais, mostly laborers, reside and the Royal Thai Embassy is actively monitoring their well-being. While most wish to remain, 18 have requested assistance to return to Thailand. The embassy in Tel Aviv is coordinating with relevant agencies to facilitate their safe return.

Thai nationals wishing to remain in Israel and Iran are advised to adhere to local regulations and closely follow updates from the Royal Thai Embassy. The government has also deployed an advance coordination team comprising officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, and the Ministry of Labor to bolster embassy efforts in the region. The government remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Thai citizens in Israel and Iran.
