PM Discusses Escalating Thai-Cambodian Tensions with Cabinet, No Talks with Cambodian Leader Yet

Bangkok: Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra convened a cabinet meeting to address the escalating situation between Thailand and Cambodia. Despite the rising tensions, the Prime Minister confirmed she has not yet engaged in direct talks with Cambodian leader Hun Manet.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting took place amid heightened concerns following recent clashes at the Chong Bok checkpoint in Ubon Ratchathani Province, located on the Thai-Cambodian border. These clashes have led Cambodia to consider taking the matter to the International Court of Justice. During an interaction with reporters, the Prime Minister was questioned about any communication with the Cambodian leader. She responded by asking which round of discussions was being referred to, acknowledging that she had not yet spoken to Hun Manet.
