Bangkok: The PM 2.5 dust levels have shown improvement but remain at the orange level in 43 areas, indicating a potential health impact. The public has actively engaged with dust-reducing measures, opting for free train and bus services to cut down on travel expenses.
According to Thai News Agency, the Bangkok Air Quality Information Center reported an average PM 2.5 level of 41 micrograms per cubic meter this morning, marking a decrease from the previous day. Despite this improvement, the dust levels still pose health concerns in 43 areas, with Nong Chok District recording the highest levels, followed by Bueng Kum.
The Ministry of Transport's initiative to allow free rides on electric trains and BMTA buses for seven days has facilitated smoother traffic at Victory Monument during Monday morning commutes. Regular commuters have shown a preference for the free BMTA buses over private options, driven by cost savings. However, there has been no significant shift from personal vehicle use to public transport.
