Pattaya: A motorcycle attempted to cross lanes at a U-turn and cut in front of a pickup truck. The motorcycle was hit with full force, resulting in the deaths of both riders at the scene. The pickup truck subsequently lost control and crashed into a roadside house, causing extensive damage.

According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured the incident in the early hours of the morning at 4:46 a.m. The footage showed a man and woman on a motorcycle trying to cross the road at a U-turn. They failed to notice a speeding pickup truck, leading to a collision that sent their bodies flying and hitting the ground. The pickup truck then veered off and collided with a house on the side of the road.

Later, at 5:06 a.m., Pattaya City Police were alerted to the collision on Sukhumvit Road, inbound to Sattahip, near the U-turn on South Pattaya Highway, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

At the scene, authorities discovered a blue motorcycle in a severely damaged state, reduced to wreckage. Alongside the road, the body of Mr. Athit, 37, was found with critical injuries. Rescuers attempted CPR and transported him to the hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries. Nearby, Ms. Siriwimol, 40, was found with a fatal head injury and was declared dead at the scene.

The other vehicle involved was a bronze pickup truck, driven by Ms. Rattanaporn, a 56-year-old fruit vendor from Sattahip District. She was found in shock and visibly distressed. Her vehicle was completely destroyed, having lost control and crashed into a parked car before hitting a house, causing significant damage.

Ms. Rattanaporn, when questioned, stated that she was on her way to sell goods at the market. As she approached the scene, the motorcycle suddenly cut in front of her at high speed while crossing the U-turn, leaving her unable to brake in time to avoid the collision. She expressed her distress and noted that she had never experienced anything like this before.

Investigators have documented the scene and collected CCTV footage for legal proceedings. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the hospital for safekeeping, awaiting family contact for religious rites.
