“Crazy Uncle” Arrested for Fatal Attack on Niece with Wooden Plank

Trang: Police from Huai Yot Police Station have arrested a man accused of killing his niece using a wooden plank.

According to Thai News Agency, the suspect, 44-year-old Suriyan, was apprehended after allegedly using a 2x2 plank to fatally beat his 21-year-old niece, Parichat, a third-year nursing student, in her home. Following the attack, Suriyan fled to a mountain in Khlong Muen, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Ratsada District, where officers eventually captured him and seized the blood-stained plank used in the crime.

Suriyan confessed to the police, revealing a history of longstanding disputes and frequent arguments with his niece. He admitted to breaking into her room and striking her in the back of the head six to seven times, leading to her death. After committing the crime, he immediately fled the scene.

The suspect, who previously worked as a tattoo artist on popular tourist islands like Koh Phangan and Koh Phi Phi, returned home due to personal issues. He has a documented history of drug use and has undergone rehabilitation several times. During police questioning, Suriyan responded coherently but exhibited no remorse for his actions.

The body of Parichat, affectionately known as "Nong Cheer," was taken by her grieving relatives to Wat Khlong Muen for religious rites. Her grandmother, 65-year-old Chanapha, expressed her profound sorrow, sharing that she had hoped to support her granddaughter through her nursing studies to ensure a stable future.
