Pichai Continues Talks on US Tariffs Before August Deadline

Bangkok: Government spokesman reveals "Pichai" explained in the cabinet meeting, confirming that he will continue to negotiate US tariffs before they take effect on August 1.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed details following a cabinet meeting where Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, provided an update on the ongoing tariff negotiations with the United States. The discussions are crucial as the deadline for implementing new import tariffs on goods is set for August 1.

Mr. Pichai elaborated on the ongoing negotiations, emphasizing that time remains to resolve various issues. These include proposals such as purchasing Boeing aircraft, investing in oil, and facilitating Thai investments abroad. He expressed optimism that the remaining time will be sufficient to explore beneficial opportunities for negotiating import tariffs on Thai products. Mr. Pichai assured that efforts will be accelerated to conclude negotiations before the August 1 deadline.
