Bangkok: Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, addressed concerns regarding a photo of Chaikasem Nitisiri, a prime ministerial candidate from the Pheu Thai Party, displaying his golf swing. He emphasized that there should be no false accusations or scapegoating related to the image, and clarified that Chaikasem was simply engaging in a routine weekend activity, much like others who play golf regularly.
According to Thai News Agency, Phumtham also commented on Chaikasem's recent television interview where he mentioned his readiness to serve as Prime Minister in the event of a political incident. Phumtham clarified that this does not indicate any intention from the Pheu Thai Party to extend its current term. Instead, he emphasized the focus on allowing the current Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, to continue her work and complete her cabinet. He urged the public not to misconstrue the situation or create scapegoats from the circumstances.
