Phumtham Monitors Thai-Cambodian Border Situation


Ubon Ratchathani: Phumtham Vejjayachai, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, made a visit to Nam Yuen District in Ubon Ratchathani Province to assess the ongoing situation at the Thai-Cambodian border. This visit follows a clash at Chong Bok, with Vejjayachai aiming to support frontline personnel tasked with maintaining stability and addressing potential issues.



According to Thai News Agency, Vejjayachai emphasized the importance of using solutions that align with international expectations and assured that there has been no loss of sovereignty. He noted that reports of Cambodian soldiers laying landmines are outdated and stressed that diplomatic measures are being prioritized. The approach involves starting with smaller initiatives and gradually implementing broader strategies, ensuring continuous dialogue between the concerned parties.



Vejjayachai expressed concern for the safety of those living along the border and committed to utilizing peaceful means to manage the situation. He assured that any escalation will be promptly addressed by frontline personnel, confirming that there are no conflicts between the military and political sectors.
