Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, emphasized the importance of a discreet approach to ensure the integrity of the investigation process.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham addressed concerns regarding the arrest of a corruption network linked to the Veterans Hospital. He mentioned the opposition's daily inquiries via LINE about the government's response to the issue. Mr. Phumtham explained that while the opposition has never run the country and thus may not understand the intricacies of official duties, the government appreciates their input. He assured that the government has been quietly following leads provided by the opposition and is committed to conducting thorough investigations without prematurely disclosing evidence, which could compromise the investigation.
Mr. Phumtham explained that the case is centered in Lopburi Province, where government officials have been sent to investigate numerous individuals. The investigation is being conducted methodically, with the involvement of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO). The goal is to bring the investigation's findings to court for the issuance of arrest warrants. Mr. Phumtham highlighted a coordinated raid conducted with arrest warrants, demonstrating the government's commitment to a law-based and evidence-driven approach. He warned against hastiness and urged patience, stating that the government's efforts will lead to a broader network of accountability.
