Phumtham Acknowledges Impact of Andaman Unrest on Tourism, Calls for Thorough Investigation

Bangkok: "Phumtham" admits that the unrest in Andaman provinces has affected tourism, asks for time to investigate. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, addressed the issue of unrest caused by bombings in the Andaman provinces of Phuket, Krabi, and Phang Nga. He stated that assessments have been conducted by both police and security forces, indicating no immediate problems. However, investigations are ongoing to gather clear information about the responsible parties.

According to Thai News Agency, Phumtham mentioned the impact on local tourism, acknowledging some adverse effects due to the dissemination of news about the incidents, which has raised concerns. Despite this, he believes tourism activities continue to follow established rules and regulations. Phumtham emphasized the need for patience until more information is available, as premature discussions could exacerbate concerns and further impact tourism.
