Phetchaburi Provincial Public Health Office Inspects Kesakamon Clinic

Phetchaburi: The Phetchaburi Provincial Public Health Office has conducted an inspection of the "Kesakamon" clinic, confirming it belongs to a well-known senior citizen and is officially listed as the operator of the medical facility. The inspection found no issues with unusual doctor's signs.

According to Thai News Agency, Colonel Dr. Thanakrit Chit-areerat, acting assistant minister to the Ministry of Public Health, disclosed that the office visited the Kesakamon Clinic in Phetchaburi Province. The clinic is associated with Dr. Kesakamol Pliansamai, a Senate member, who had previously declared the clinic in her asset and debt list to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). The findings from the inspection confirmed that Dr. Kesakamol Pliansamai owns and operates the clinic and was a practicing doctor there until the operating doctor's name was changed on August 21, 2024. No complaints or medical malpractice cases have been reported, and thus the "hanging" of the doctor's sign was not considered unusual.

Questions arose regarding the role of being a hospital operator. The Department of Health Service Support's Hospital Act mandates supervision to ensure non-physicians do not perform medical procedures and that hospital standards are maintained, but does not require the operator's constant presence. Colonel Thanakrit clarified that there has never been any legal action or complaints regarding Dr. Kesakamol's role until the operator's name change in 2024. He added that Dr. Kesakamol would need to explain this role to the NACC herself.

Further inquiries were made about Dr. Kesakamol's attendance at the clinic during her tenure as the operator. Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Thanakrit mentioned that they did not monitor her daily attendance as there were no complaints or indications of irregularities. The investigation would have been prompted by a complaint indicating discrepancies between the reported and actual attending doctors, but no such issues were reported.

Regarding the sufficiency of the field inspection data, Colonel Thanakrit assured that the information is complete and correctly documented in the system. The change in the hospital operator's name was correctly processed, as verified by the necessary documentation.
