NBTC Reveals Two Mobile Operators Hold Three Frequency Bands

Bangkok: NBTC reveals that two mobile operators hold three frequency bands: 2,100 MHz, 2,300 MHz, and 1,500 MHz, with the government earning 41,273 million baht in revenue.

According to Thai News Agency, NBTC opened the auction of telecommunication frequency bands, including 850 MHz, 1500 MHz, 2,100 MHz, and 2,300 MHz, which are currently employed for mobile services. The auction commenced at 9:30 a.m. and lasted for over two hours, during which both mobile operators showed no interest in the 850 MHz band due to its lower frequency.

The auction concluded with the 1500 MHz frequency band having one bidder who offered 1,163 million baht for a single license. The 2,100 MHz band was auctioned at a price of 4,950 million baht for three licenses, while the 2,300 MHz band saw bids amounting to 3,110 million baht for eleven licenses. Despite the availability, no bids were submitted for the 850 MHz band.

The auction is anticipated to generate 41,273 million baht in revenue for the NBTC. An NBTC board meeting followed by an official announcement is scheduled for July 6.
