Bangkok: Nantana Nantvaropas, a member of the Senate, has urged the Election Commission (EC) and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to diligently pursue the investigation into alleged collusion in the selection of senators. She emphasized the need for bringing those involved in corruption to justice and highlighted the interconnectedness of certain senators with political parties. Nantana also expressed concerns about the impact on minority senators.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Nantana discussed the latest developments involving the 26th Election Commission's Investigation and Investigation Committee, which has summoned several politicians. Although she acknowledged the dissemination of the seventh batch of summonses, she lacked detailed information. Nevertheless, she called upon the DSI, the EC, and related subcommittees to demonstrate courage in pursuing the case, as the public eagerly awaits justice being served against the masterminds of the alleged corruption.
Ms. Nantana emphasized the historical significance of the case, as over half of the Senate faces charges involving influential individuals. She expressed hope that the responsible agencies would see the investigation through and punish those guilty of corruption, thereby reinforcing public confidence in Thailand's justice system.
Addressing potential political connections, Ms. Nantana noted that astute observers could discern affiliations through various indicators such as colors, symbols, and voting patterns. She urged those handling the case to remain steadfast and warned against disappointing the public, as failure to hold the guilty accountable could undermine trust in the justice process.
Ms. Nantana also highlighted the challenges faced by minority senators, who bear the consequences of differing opinions from the majority. She recounted her own experiences, including being marginalized from committee roles after speaking out against resolutions aligning with specific political parties.
