Bangkok: The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has decided to accept the investigation into an audio clip involving Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra and Samdech Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate. The case involves alleged ethical violations concerning a conversation about the Thai-Cambodian border conflict.
According to Thai News Agency, the NACC's recent meeting resulted in a unanimous decision to begin an initial investigation into the matter. The commission emphasized the importance of correctly conducting the fact-finding investigation, transcription, and translation of the audio clip, as it serves as crucial evidence in the case. Additionally, the questioning of related witnesses is part of the standard investigation process. Typically, once a complaint is filed, the NACC proceeds with an initial investigation.
Contrary to previous reports, the NACC has not imposed a 10-day deadline for the completion of the initial investigation. Instead, the commission has requested that the investigation be conducted promptly, given the public interest in the matter. Regular updates on the progress of the investigation will be provided to the NACC.
