Samut prakan: Residents of the Samrong Tai community were startled when a seemingly harmless object, mistaken for a rock and thrown to a dog to play with, exploded, injuring two individuals. The loud noise caused panic throughout the area.
According to Thai News Agency, police from Samrong Tai Police Station in Samut Prakan Province responded to reports of an explosion-like noise in the Wat Yothin Pradit community on Pu Chao Saming Phrai Road, Samrong Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Prakan District. Upon investigation, they discovered the incident took place at a single-story wooden house.
Two individuals were injured in the explosion. Mr. Somkhwan, 43, sustained burns and abrasions on his body, while Mrs. Oat, 65, suffered minor injuries and tinnitus. Rescue workers transported her to Samut Prakan Hospital. The force of the explosion also shattered a fish tank on the ground floor, indicating the intensity of the blast caused by what was identified as a ping-pong bomb.
Mr. Somkhwan recounted that he was inside the house when Ms. Oat inadvertently triggered the explosion by throwing the object inside, resulting in his injuries. Ms. Oat explained that she found the object, wrapped in black tape and resembling a flat stone, in front of her house. Unaware of its true nature, she threw it inside for the dog, leading to the unexpected detonation.
Police are actively investigating the origins of the explosives and are committed to pursuing legal action against those responsible.
