Bangkok: A university student died after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a bus, while his friend who was riding pillion was injured. At 9:00 PM yesterday, Bang Khen Police Station received a report of a motorcycle crashing into the back of a bus, resulting in fatalities and injuries on Ngam Wong Wan Road, heading towards Vibhavadi, opposite Kasetsart University, Gate 1, Chatuchak District, Bangkok. They therefore went to inspect the scene along with forensic doctors from Bhumibol Hospital and volunteers from the Por Tek Tung Foundation.
According to Thai News Agency, at the scene, a bus running between Prachaniwet and Victory Monument was found parked in the leftmost traffic lane. The rear right side of the bus had been severely damaged, causing the rear of the bus to be dented. Nearby, a blue-black Honda Click motorcycle was found with severe damage to its front.
In the middle of the road, one injured man was found in serious condition. He was the one who had fallen off the back of the motorcycle. Rescue workers gave him first aid and rushed him to the hospital. He was identified as Mr. Anuchon, 19 years old, a university student. One deceased person was found, Mr. Kritpas, 19 years old, who was riding the motorcycle.
When the deceased's friends arrived at the scene, they cried with grief. Initial information indicated that the injured and deceased students were leaving the university to return to their residence after studying for an exam with friends, but the accident occurred.
A fare collector stated that the bus was traveling from the Victory Monument to Prachaniwet Market. Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, the bus stopped to pick up and drop off passengers. Subsequently, a loud noise was heard from behind, and upon checking, it was found that the bus had been hit by a motorcycle.
Police officers have invited the bus driver for further questioning and inspected the accident scene. Rescue workers sent the body to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Bhumibol Hospital, for examination before handing over the body to the relatives for religious rites.
