Crime Suppression Division Submits Extensive Case File Against Lawyer Tum for Prosecution

Bangkok: Crime Suppression Division submits case file of Lawyer Tum, fraud and money laundering, 9,317 pages, to the public prosecutor for consideration and order of the case.

According to Thai News Agency, investigators from the Crime Suppression Division have traveled to deliver the 9,317 pages of the case file against Lawyer Tum to the public prosecutors at the Office of Special Litigation, Office of the Attorney General. Pol. Col. Phumipat Namputtha, Superintendent (Investigation), Investigation Group, Crime Suppression Division, was the person who delivered the file. On the public prosecutors' side, the recipient was Mr. Natthaphong Phutkaew, Deputy Attorney General of the Office of Special Litigation.

Pol. Col. Phumipat revealed that the case file sent to the public prosecutor today has two parts: the case outside the Kingdom, consisting of 71 million baht, 39 million baht, and a 1.5 million baht Benz, and the case inside the Kingdom, which is the hotel design and construction. In all four cases, there are seven suspects in total. The investigators are of the opinion that it is appropriate to indict all suspects on all charges, including the charges of joint fraud, joint money laundering, and conspiracy to launder money against Lawyer Tum, his wife Dao, Lawyer Tum's wife's sister, Nu, and Sa.

In addition, there are two new suspects that the investigator has filed additional charges against in the 1.5 million baht Benz case. They are individuals who collaborated with Lawyer Tum to forge receipts. They have been charged with forging documents. Both new suspects must report to the prosecutor today as well.

However, for Dao, the sister of Lawyer Tum's wife, she is considered under the court's control because she was granted bail during the detention period, so there is no need to bring her to the prosecutor's office today.

Reporters asked about the progress of the will case of Madam Oi and Lawyer Tum. Pol. Col. Phumipat said that from the investigation and collection of evidence, there is still no evidence of any wrongdoing as reported. Currently, the investigator is still investigating this matter. As for whether Madam Oi will be called in for questioning again, it has not been considered yet.

As for the issue of writing a letter requesting justice, there has been no such letter from the accused. However, from questioning Lawyer Tum in prison, Lawyer Tum still wants the investigators to follow normal legal procedures.

Mr. Natthaphong said that the next step is to hand over the case files to the Office of the Attorney General for Special Litigation 1 to be responsible for initial consideration. For the case files outside the Kingdom, they will be forwarded to the Attorney General. For the case inside the Kingdom, the Office of the Attorney General can issue an order immediately. The process of considering the case files will be expedited to be completed before the end of the detention period for the accused, which is January 30.
