Buriram: Starting today, the world-renowned motorsport competition "MotoGP" launches its first field in Buriram, welcoming tourists from across the globe. The event aims to stimulate economic growth within the region and the country, as emphasized by Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson.
According to Thai News Agency, the 'PT Grand Prix of Thailand 2025' is set to take place from February 28 to March 2, 2025, at the Chang International Circuit, marking the first race in Thailand of the 22 global racetracks. Concurrently, a showcase of prominent OTOP products derived from local wisdom will be held behind Chang Arena Football Stadium, offering a platform to promote these products internationally.
Mr. Karom detailed the extensive preparations undertaken by Buriram Province to ensure the event's success. Local citizens participated in a 'Big Cleaning Day' activity at the Royal Monument of King Rama I, a significant provincial landmark. Collaborating with police, military, administrative officials, and volunteers, the province is committed to maintaining safety and security for both Thai and international visitors. Business operators have been urged to act as responsible hosts, avoiding exploitative practices. Violations, such as failing to display prices or selling goods at unfair rates, will result in fines and potential imprisonment. Tourists are encouraged to report any discrepancies to the hotline at 1569.
Reflecting on past achievements, the 2024 competition attracted 205,343 attendees, comprising 154,666 Thais and 50,677 foreigners, generating an economic output of 4,759 million baht and creating 6,939 jobs. The government benefited from at least 300 million baht in tax revenue. For 2025, projections estimate over 200,000 tourists in attendance, contributing approximately 5,000 million baht to the economy.
Tickets for the event are available at All Ticket Counter Services in 7-Eleven branches nationwide or at the designated booths at the venue. Admission for concerts and activity areas, excluding the competition, is priced at 100 baht per day or 200 baht for all three days. As Thailand hosts 'MotoGP' for the sixth consecutive year, it has earned the distinction of hosting the season's opening round for two consecutive years in 2025 and 2026, underscoring Thailand's potential as a future hub for motorsports in Asia.
