Ministry Addresses Long-Standing Boundary Issues at Lam Takhong Industrial Estate

Bangkok: The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has addressed concerns regarding the boundary survey of the Lam Takhong Industrial Estate. This survey has been conducted by the Joint Committee for Land Inspection in Korat since 1993, with the ministry confirming that it has not been negligent and has been actively working on resolving issues.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kantapong Rangsisawang, Director-General of the Department of Social Development and Welfare, clarified recent reports about the expansion of the Lam Takhong self-reliance settlement area and overlapping Sor Por Kor land. He noted that these issues trace back to a Cabinet resolution from October 8, 1963, which designated specific forest areas for establishing a self-reliant settlement.

The Revolutionary Council's announcement on December 13, 1972, officially established the Lam Takhong Self-Reliant Settlement, outlining approximately 280,000 rai for the mission. However, in 1993, the boundary's clarity was questioned, prompting Nakhon Ratchasima Province to appoint a committee in 1994 to inspect the boundaries. The survey increased the area to 326,000 rai, and land management actions have been ongoing since 1995.

In 2011, issues arose over the inability to issue land title deeds due to unclear boundaries. The Ministry has since forwarded the matter to relevant national committees to resolve the inconsistencies. The Department of Social Development and Welfare, along with other agencies, continues to address the overlapping land issues, seeking a resolution through the National Land Policy Committee.
