Meteorological Department Issues Alert for Heavy Rain and Strong Winds in 20 Thai Provinces

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has announced heavy rain in some areas of Thailand, warning 20 provinces to brace for heavy rain and strong winds, and to be wary of flash floods and mudslides.

According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department reports that the North, Northeast, East, and the west coast of the South will experience heavy rain, with some areas facing very heavy rain and strong winds.

Residents in provinces such as Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, and others are advised to be cautious of potential flash floods and mudslides, especially in areas near waterways and lowlands. This weather pattern is attributed to the monsoon trough passing over specific regions, combined with the strengthening southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Wave conditions in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand are concerning, with waves reaching 2-3 meters high, and exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners are advised to exercise caution, and small boats are urged to stay ashore. Residents along coastal areas should be vigilant from August 31 to September 2, 2025, as wave activity poses a risk.

Additionally, a weakening low-pressure area from Tropical Depression "Nong Fa" is affecting the upper northeastern region and is expected to move into the northern region.
