Bangkok: MEA visits the area where the road collapsed in "Samsen" to fix the electrical system. MEA inspected the road collapse in front of Vajira Hospital to ensure the safety of the public's electrical system. The MEA repaired the system and restored almost all power, despite approximately 10 power poles falling.
According to Thai News Agency, due to the road collapse situation on Samsen Road in front of Vajira Hospital, which affected the local electrical system and caused approximately 10 power poles to fall, there were power outages in some areas. However, Vajira Hospital was not affected because the MEA supplies electricity through underground feeders from the Vajira substation on Sukhothai Road, which is an underground system. After the incident, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) coordinated with the area to expedite the solution.
Mr. Rachen Anwet, Assistant Governor of the MEA, stated that following a site visit at 11:00 a.m., MEA officials inspected the safety of the power poles and cables at the scene. MEA has expedited the deployment of engineers and operational personnel to address the issue. As of now, power has been restored to almost all areas, except for some areas in the shophouses at the scene, which are in an unsafe area. Residents have been evacuated for safety reasons.
Regarding power system stability and service readiness following the road collapse in front of Vajira Hospital, MEA has a monitoring system and emergency team ready to operate 24/7 to provide full care and service to the public. All MEA offices remain open as usual. Electricity users can contact the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) in all 18 districts during business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Alternatively, they can use various online channels for convenience, 24/7, without having to travel.
MEA apologizes for any inconvenience caused and requests the public's cooperation in avoiding the aforementioned route until the situation improves. For further inquiries, if you witness or are affected by operations that may cause unsafe conditions, or find damaged electrical wires or electrical equipment in an unsafe condition, you can report the incident via the MEA Smart Life Application, a free downloadable application for iOS and Android smartphones, or via various social media channels, including Facebook: Metropolitan Electricity Authority, MEA X: @mea_news, and Line: MEA Connect (@MEAthailand).
