Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya: Police have apprehended 'Mr. Kong' following an incident where he allegedly used a hammer to fatally assault his senior friend. The arrest was made after the tragic event occurred in front of the victim's young daughter.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kong, 28, was arrested by officers from the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station. He faces charges of intentional murder and theft after using a sledgehammer to kill Mr. Phichat, aged 42. The attack took place around 2:00 AM, and Mr. Kong was later detained in the Sena District. Despite reporters' attempts to uncover the reasons behind his actions, Mr. Kong remained silent as he was escorted into the investigation room.
Ms. Nuengruethai, Mr. Kong's older sister, expressed her grief over the incident, describing her brother as having a volatile temperament, which had previously forced the family to separate. She shared that the victim, Mr. Huang, had long been associated with their family through his work with her father, who was a construction contractor. Ms. Nuengruethai expressed her condolences to Mr. Huang's family, stating that she would not defend her brother and would allow the law to proceed. She speculated that the motive behind the attack could have been linked to a dispute over stolen iron bars, which Mr. Kong believed Mr. Huang had taken. Prior to the incident, Mr. Kong allegedly called his sister, threatening to kill someone, but she did not take him seriously, believing it to be an idle threat.
Mr. Chaow, the brother of the deceased, expressed his relief at the arrest, fearing for the safety of Mr. Huang's children. He confirmed that the family would ensure the children are cared for and their educational needs met. A detailed press conference by the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station is scheduled for tomorrow to provide further details on the case.
