Luxury Sedan Collision with Truck Causes Fatal Fire in Korat

Korat: A loud crash followed by a fire occurred when a luxury car collided with the back of a truck carrying recycled paper at a Korat interchange, resulting in the tragic death of the driver.

According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from a nearby shop captured the sequence of events on Mittraphap Road, just before the Pak Thong Chai overpass, where a luxury sedan with Bangkok license plates crashed into the truck. The collision caused a rapid fire, trapping the driver inside the vehicle. The Hook 31 Nakhon Ratchasima Rescue Unit and the Pho Klang Police Station, along with three fire engines from Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality, responded to the incident and battled the blaze for over 40 minutes before managing to extinguish it.

Inside the luxury car, the body of Mr. Nattakit, the vehicle's owner, was found charred in the driver's seat. The truck driver, questioned by authorities, explained that he was transporting recycled paper from Ubon Ratchathani Province to a factory in Samut Sakhon Province when the luxury sedan collided with his truck on the approach to the overpass. The impact was accompanied by a loud noise, and a spark quickly ignited, spreading to the paper in the truck's cargo area. Despite efforts by officers to assist, they were unable to save the individuals involved.

The deceased's body has been sent for identification and DNA testing at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital to confirm the identity. Meanwhile, firefighters continue to manage sporadic smoke from the remaining paper debris, taking precautions to prevent further flare-ups.
