Large Thai Flag Marks Protest at Victory Monument

Bangkok: The United Power of the Land group organized a symbolic demonstration at the Victory Monument, where protesters carried and displayed a large Thai national flag. The flag stretched from the front of the stage for about 100 meters, serving as a focal point for the rally, which aimed to protect Thai sovereignty.

According to Thai News Agency, the protest led to significant traffic congestion in the surrounding areas. The presence of protesters completely filled the skywalk area around Victory Monument, causing disruptions on major routes. Traffic was particularly affected from Phahonyothin Island through Ratchawithi Road to Din Daeng Island. The Phahonyothin side was closed to traffic early in the afternoon, while Ratchawithi and Din Daeng roads had only one lane open.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau has advised the public to avoid the area unless necessary due to the ongoing congestion. The bureau has emphasized the need for commuters to seek alternative routes to mitigate the impact of the protest on traffic flow.
