Father and Son Arrested for Deadly Attack at Religious Ceremony

Bangkok: A father and son were apprehended overnight after a violent attack during a religious procession, resulting in two fatalities and one injury. The suspects, identified as Somkhwan, 35, and Muan, 64, allegedly shot and stabbed their rivals, Montree, 30, and Thirawat, 27, before fleeing the scene.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred while the victims were participating in a dance in front of a parade float. Atsani, 29, who was not involved in the conflict, was also injured by a stray bullet. The injured man provided a statement to police and identified the suspects, which led to their arrest.

Investigations revealed that the two parties had a prior conflict that culminated in the attack during the religious ceremony. Witnesses reported that the father and son took advantage of the distraction during the procession. The son reportedly shot the victims in the back, followed by the father stabbing them, leading to the serious injuries that claimed the lives of Mr. Montree and Mr. Thirawat. Despite their arrest, the suspects have denied the charges against them.
