Myawaddy: The commander of the Rajamanu Task Force, Naresuan Army, has acknowledged the dialogue between the leaders of the Border Guard Force (BGF) in Myanmar and a group of Chinese businessmen in Myawaddy as a promising initiative to collaboratively address issues of fraud and transnational crimes.
According to Thai News Agency, Colonel Nattakorn Rueantip, Commander of the Rajamanu Task Force, Naresuan Army, believes that the meeting convened by General Mong Chit Thu, leader of the Karen BGF, with representatives from the Karen Buddhist Democracy Force (DKBA), entrepreneurs, and Chinese investors, is a significant move. During discussions held on January 15, measures were established to curb activities such as online fraud, human trafficking, and the use of child labor. The measures also included strict prohibitions against any form of forced or threatened physical harm, solicitation of money from human trafficking, and engaging in fraudulent online royal businesses. Individuals found guilty of such offenses will be immediately expelled from the area, marking a decisive step towards solving transnational crimes.
The coordinated effort is seen as a vital starting point in combating border-related transnational crimes, which necessitates cooperation from both the Thai and Myanmar sides. Particularly, it involves collaboration with landowners who facilitate Chinese investments and business operations. The aim is to transform illegal enterprises into legitimate ones that meet international standards. This initiative aligns with the ongoing efforts by the Thai authorities to implement preventive measures against illegal activities. The authorities also continue to observe the conflicts between the Myanmar military and opposition groups, which have moved deeper into Myanmar territory. The Thai government urges its citizens and border communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
