Ubon Ratchathani: The young owner of a car care shop, Mr. Chetchai, tragically lost his life after being attacked with a knife by his wife's relative in Ubon Ratchathani province. The incident occurred early in the morning at Mr. Chetchai's residence in tambon Lao Sue Kok.
According to Thai News Agency, the altercation stemmed from a disagreement fueled by alcohol consumption. Mr. Chetchai, aged 38, was found with more than ten wounds on his face, neck, and body, inflicted by his wife's cousin, Mr. Ubon. The attack left Mr. Chetchai dead at the scene, while Mr. Ubon sustained head injuries and was subdued by local villagers.
Mr. Chetchai's wife, aged 41, recounted that the incident unfolded after Mr. Chetchai visited her following his work at the car care shop in Tambon Hua Ruea. The couple was drinking at her house when Mr. Ubon, who had also been drinking, began an argument about inappropriate behavior. The situation escalated when Mr. Chetchai followed Mr. Ubon to his house, leading to a physical altercation. Mr. Ubon seized a machete during the fight and repeatedly slashed Mr. Chetchai.
Mr. Sathit, the father of the deceased, expressed his grief and disbelief over the brutality of the attack, stating that it was not a case of self-defense. He mentioned that his son had been married for only two years and frequently visited his wife's house. Despite his anger, Mr. Sathit conveyed a willingness to forgive Mr. Ubon, attributing the incident to alcohol-related loss of control.
Police have charged Mr. Ubon with intentional murder. He is currently undergoing medical treatment and, pending recovery, will face legal proceedings. Villagers and relatives are now preparing for Mr. Chetchai's funeral, mourning the loss of a life taken abruptly.
