Pattani: Justice Minister visits Pattani to set up 150 'People's Defeating Drugs' groups to create a mechanism to reach out to communities to solve the drug problem in the southern border provinces.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, visited Pattani Province to hold a meeting to drive the plan 'Uniting the Power of Volunteers to Defeat Drugs in the Southern Border Provinces'. This initiative involved representatives from local government agencies, community leaders, local administrative organizations, and volunteer groups, all working together to develop a systematic approach to combat drugs. A key part of the visit included inspecting 'Baan Aun Ai Rak' in Tanyong Da Lo Subdistrict, Yaring District, Pattani Province, a community-level drug rehabilitation center. This center focuses on voluntary treatment processes within an environment conducive to mental and social rehabilitation. Sports equipment was also provided to those undergoing treatment, aiming to promote well-being and motivate behavioral change, helping individuals reintegrate as productive members of society.
Orientation activities for officials and volunteers are part of the operational plan to defeat drugs in the southern border provinces. The creation of 150 'people's teams to defeat drugs' serves as an important mechanism for engaging local communities. These teams will proactively prevent, monitor, and rehabilitate those affected by drugs, placing people at the center of these efforts to achieve true peace and stability in the region.
