Cambodia-Thailand Border Relaxation Eases Student Commute

Aranyaprathet: The first day of a new border relaxation policy has allowed Cambodian and Thai students to cross the border between the two countries from as early as 6 am.

According to Thai News Agency, the Burapha Force has implemented an order enabling Cambodian students living on the Thai side but studying in Cambodia, and vice versa, to cross the border in the early morning from 06.00-08.00 and again in the evening from 17.00-18.00. This measure seeks to alleviate difficulties caused by previous time restrictions at the border checkpoints.

Previously, students crossing at the Ban Khlong Luek Permanent Border Checkpoint in Sa Kaeo Province had faced time constraints. Thai immigration officers have emphasized the importance of students presenting their student ID cards to maintain order during the crossing. This relaxation policy applies to four main border checkpoints in Sa Kaeo Province, including Ban Khlong Luek, Ban Khao Din, Ban Ta Phraya Trade Relaxation Point, and Ban Nong Pru Trade Relaxation Point.

For the general public, tourists, and parents of students, the border crossing times remain unchanged, from 09.00 to 16.00 hours.
