Bangkok: Jiraporn opened the BAT - RoiEt Junior Championship 2025, marking the first youth badminton competition in Roi Et and the lower northeastern region. Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, led the opening ceremony at the Roi Et Badminton Court located in Dong Lan Subdistrict, Mueang District, Roi Et Province. The event was attended by Dr. Ekkapap Phonsue, spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and president of the Roi Et Provincial Sports Association, Governor Chatchawan Benjasiriwong, Mr. Tasana Prueksapaisansin from the Badminton Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, government officials, coaches, athletes, and local residents.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Jiraporn highlighted the role of sports in empowering youth physically, mentally, and socially during her opening speech. She expressed gratitude towards the agencies that collaborated to have Roi Et Province selected as the host for the BAT-RoiEt Junior Championship 2025. The event aims to provide youth and young adults with the opportunity to develop their badminton skills on a national level, inspiring them towards future success in sports. Hosting such a significant sporting event also serves to stimulate the local economy and boost tourism in the province. The event attracted not only athletes but also thousands of coaches and parents, contributing to increased local spending.
The BAT - RoiEt Junior Championship 2025 (Level 5) is scheduled from August 2nd to 5th, 2025. The competition is organized into five age groups: under 9 years, 11 years, 13 years, 15 years, and 17 years, covering five categories: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. A total of 367 athletes from 41 clubs nationwide will participate. This event marks the first time Roi Et Province hosts an association-level badminton tournament, a significant milestone for the lower Isan region on the Badminton Association of Thailand calendar.
