Nakhon Sawan: The Livestock Department raided an illegal slaughterhouse in the middle of Nakhon Sawan City, found animals being killed without permission, seized 8 pig carcasses weighing a total of over 700 kilograms, and filed a complaint according to the law. According to Thai News Agency, Veterinarian Somchuan Rattanamangkhalanon, Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development, revealed that he has ordered a special task force from the Nakhon Sawan Animal Quarantine Checkpoint, together with the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Livestock Office and the Mueang Nakhon Sawan District Livestock Office, to inspect suspicious locations in Mueang Nakhon Sawan District, Nakhon Sawan Province, after receiving a tip-off that there was an illegal animal slaughter without permission. The inspection results found that there was an unauthorized killing of animals, which is an offense under Section 15 of the Animal Slaughter Control Act for Meat Sales B.E. 2559, punishable by imprisonment not exceeding 3 years or a fine not exceeding 200,000 baht, or both. It also failed to comply with Sections 31 and 39, which require reporting of the animals killed and to operate only in licensed slaughterhouses. The officers seized the carcasses of 8 pigs, weighing a total of approximately 700 kilograms, along with evidence and equipment related to animal slaughter. They then reported the case to the investigation officer at Nakhon Sawan City Police Station to proceed with legal action. The Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development stated that this operation is in accordance with the policies of Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Mr. Itthi Sirilatayakorn, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, who prioritize consumer safety by emphasizing strict law enforcement to suppress illegal animal slaughter nationwide and to raise the standards of slaughterhouses to be safe and sanitary. In this regard, if the public finds any wrongdoing, they can report it via the 'DLD 4 .0' application 24 hours a day, which can be installed on both iOS and Android systems, so that officials can investigate and prosecute immediately.
