Kamphaeng Phet: Police launched an operation to hunt down and arrest a drug gang, seizing 5 million methamphetamine pills as evidence.
According to Thai News Agency, footage from police cameras captured a thrilling incident when a suspicious white Ford pickup truck slowed down about 20-30 meters before reaching a checkpoint on Highway 112 in Tambon Nong Phling, Amphoe Mueang, Kamphaeng Phet Province. However, it suddenly turned against traffic. Police followed it closely for about 19 kilometers before closing in to stop it. The driver sped up to make a U-turn but was caught off guard and crashed into a semi-truck, preventing him from driving away. Police arrested the driver, identified as Mr. Kritsada, aged 35.
From the search of the vehicle, 8 black sacks and bags were found in the back of the pickup truck, 10 more in the passenger compartment, and 2 more in the passenger seat next to the driver, for a total of 20 sacks. Inside were 5 million methamphetamine pills, worth 300 million baht.
The operation took place on March 3 and was announced to the media today. The investigation revealed that while the suspect was driving the drug-delivery vehicle, he was found changing license plates throughout the route to deceive the authorities.
