Heavy Rain Triggers Flash Floods in Chiang Mai Municipality

Chiang Mai: Heavy rain in Chiang Mai city and Doi Suthep for almost 2 hours caused flash floods to flow down streams and 'Lam Khu Wai' to overflow the banks, flooding roads and shops in Chiang Mai Municipality over a wide area, especially in the 'Kad Kom' area where the water level was 20-30 centimeters high, making it difficult for small vehicles to travel. Villagers had to move their belongings to higher ground and some shops were closed.

According to Thai News Agency, shop owners and houses along the road are asking for cooperation from road users to slow down or drive slowly because if you drive fast, the waves will hit you and damage your property. They are also warning people that if you have a wound, you should not walk through the water because there may be rat urine mixed in. Chiang Mai Municipality is rushing to bring in a large, long-distance water pump to drain the water. It is expected that the situation should return to normal in about 2-3 hours.
