Bangkok: The Green Globe Institute recently held the 23rd Green Globe Awards under the theme 'Change, Learn, Sustain' at the PTT Headquarters in Bangkok. This event aims to inspire conservation efforts across communities and individuals of all generations.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Sumet Tantivejakul, Chairman of the Green Globe Institute, and Mr. Wuttikorn Stithit, Chief Operating Officer of the Upstream Petroleum and Natural Gas Business Group at PTT Public Company Limited, were among the key figures who congratulated the recipients. They highlighted the significance of learning and adapting with wisdom to restore balance between humans and nature amidst global environmental challenges like climate change and resource degradation.
Dr. Sumet emphasized the institute's goal to promote learning and adaptation by honoring those with notable achievements in environmental conservation. These awards aim to inspire others to conserve natural resources for a sustainable future. Mr. Wuttikorn echoed this sentiment, stating PTT's commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental care, reducing greenhouse gases, and fostering community cooperation in resource conservation.
Mr. Wuttikorn further remarked on the power of community wisdom and its crucial role in successful environmental conservation. He noted that the Green Globe Award serves as proof that collective community efforts can drive the nation towards sustainability.
Since its inception in 1999, the Green Globe Award has supported and recognized outstanding conservation efforts. Currently, there are 858 awarded works and a network of over 5,000 individuals across the country. The 23rd ceremony honored 16 works across four categories: community, youth group, Sippanont Ketthat sustainability, and writing.
The event also featured an exhibition of Green Globe Award works, special lectures, and opportunities for attendees to purchase products from Green Globe Network communities. It also provided a platform for networking and exchanging experiences, inviting participants to engage in activities that highlight the importance of conservation.
