Government Establishes Committees for Queen Mother’s Royal Funeral Rites

Bangkok: The government has established eight committees to oversee the royal funeral rites for Her Majesty the Queen Mother in accordance with ancient royal traditions. The government is preparing to hold a royal funeral ceremony for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, with a worthy royal honor, beginning with the seven-day ceremony on October 30th. These committees will ensure all aspects of the event adhere to ancient royal traditions.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Saram, Deputy Prime Minister Bowornsak Uwanno, and Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, Paradorn Prisananantakul, announced the government's royal funeral rites for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Saram emphasized the importance of the event and outlined the preparations for the royal merit-making ceremonies. The ceremonies will commence with the seven-day Sattamawar ceremony on October 30, 2025, followed by the 15-day Panrasamwara, the 50-day Panyasamwara, and the 100-day Sattamawara. Ceremonies will be organized at central, regional, and international levels to ensure smooth operations.

Deputy Prime Minister Bowornsak Uwanno revealed that the Cabinet has resolved to appoint eight committees related to the royal cremation ceremony. These committees include the Ceremony Organizing Committee, the Committee for Organizing the Royal Procession and Royal Ceremonies, and the committee for the construction of the Royal Crematorium, among others. The government is committed to ensuring that the highest level of royal honors is carried out smoothly and completely.

Mr. Paradorn Prisananantakul urged all government agencies and relevant stakeholders to contact 062 201 7232 or the hotline 1111 for coordination. He directed agencies to organize "Unite the Power of Loyalty" activities and submit photos to the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister for archival purposes. Deputy Prime Minister Bowornsak Uwanno clarified that the Cabinet has not resolved to cancel any events, emphasizing that activities should honor the graciousness of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, while ensuring minimal disruption to daily life.
