Bangkok: The government has reaffirmed that "Big Lek" confirmed there was no call ordering a ceasefire, but rather an order to carry out the mission to the fullest extent. The government emphasized that misinformation is being spread by certain political parties, causing unrest on social media.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office and a member of the Special Operations Center for the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation (SOC), addressed allegations that a government representative issued a telephone order to prevent border clashes on July 24, 2015. He clarified that, after investigating with Deputy Minister of Defense General Nattapol Nakphanit, no such action was taken, and there was no reason for such an order given the context of the Thai-Cambodian conflict.
"Today, the border situation is considered under complete control by the government, through the military. The government is in the process of compensating for losses, restoring the area, maintaining sovereignty, ensuring the safety of the people, and presenting various issues to the international community and other relevant parties, including international human rights organizations," stated Mr. Jirayu. He urged the public to remain united and not be swayed by the political strategies of neighboring countries, which have allegedly committed war crimes against Thai bases and civilians. He cautioned against spreading unsubstantiated claims, which could lead to societal confusion and bolster opposition on the international stage.
