Bangkok: The 8-a-side youth football competition, GLO Cup 2025 Eastern and Metropolitan Region Qualifying Round, concluded at the Royal Navy Stadium, Km. 5, with eight teams securing their spots in the upcoming Thailand Championship. The event saw intense matches, narrowing down from the final 24 teams to the final 8 knockout round, identifying four representatives from each age group to advance to the national finals. Additionally, the announcement of the "GLO Star" players for each region took place on June 29.
According to Thai News Agency, the competition was fierce, with each group's champion gaining immediate entry into the final 8 teams, putting a ticket to the national championship round at stake. The results yielded eight regional representatives:
For the Under 13 years category, Assumption Sriracha School defeated Buakaew Kesorn School 3-0. Mother Mary Sathorn x Royal Navy Junior advanced by winning 4-3 on penalties against Taksin Rayong Secondary School after a 0-0 draw. Pattaya United triumphed over Tha Kham Pittayakhom School with a 2-0 win, while Rayong Wittayakhom FC secured their spot by overcoming Rajvithi Bangkaew School on penalties 3-2 after a goalless match. The final four teams for the Thailand U13 Championship are Assumption Sriracha School, Mother Mary Sathorn x Royal Navy Junior, Pattaya United, and Rayong Wittayakom FC.
In the Under 15 years category, Mother Mary Sathorn x Royal Navy Junior emerged victorious with a 2-0 win against Ban Khlong Mu Sai School. Taksin Rayong Secondary School joined them by defeating ACDC.FC 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw. Phlo Ta Luang Witthaya School showcased dominance with an 8-0 victory over Suankularb Wittayalai Nonthaburi School, and PMR ACADEMY edged out Super Dragon 2-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. The teams proceeding to the final round of Thailand U15 are Mother Mary Sathorn x Royal Navy Junior, Taksin Rayong Secondary School, Plutaluang Witthaya School, and PMR ACADEMY.
In addition to the competitive matches, the 'GLO Star' players from the Eastern and Metropolitan Regions were announced. These players were meticulously chosen by the Thai Football Development Foundation Committee from nearly 2,000 participants, highlighting exceptional skills and attitudes. The selected U13 players are Thirawat Kongsung from Mother Mary School x Royal Navy Junior, Phante Phatwi from Assumption Sriracha School, Phichanut Suphasri from Taksin Rayong Secondary School, and Nattapol Khamnetdam from Singhasikul Academy. The U15 GLO Stars include Kittipong Chaemkrajang from ACDC.FC, Phatthathiti Phopha from Assumption Sriracha School, Natthaphat Sommai from SportingThailand, and Sarawit Arananat from Taksin Rayong Secondary School.
The next regional qualifying round will commence on July 1, 2025, in Ratchaburi Province, covering the central and western regions.
