Bangkok: In a recent statement, Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, has called for the Thai Prime Minister to heed the voices of the people and either resign or dissolve the parliament. This move, he believes, would provide an opportunity for the country to move forward by allowing citizens to choose a new leader.
According to Thai News Agency, Gen Prawit expressed his views amid rumors of a coup circulating online, stating firmly that such an event "shouldn't happen again." He emphasized that the military's stance is not against the country but pointed out that the real issue lies within the political sphere, which is causing suffering among the populace.
Gen Prawit highlighted the importance of the Prime Minister reflecting on his role, especially given the widespread disagreement with the current government. He underscored the need for adherence to the constitution, stressing that the voices of the people must be acknowledged and respected.
Further, Gen Prawit expressed his willingness to support the dissolution of the parliament if it meant giving the country's 70 million citizens a chance to select a leader capable of steering Thailand towards steady progress.
