Bangkok: The National Police Commission (NPC) has indicted former National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimol and over 200 officers for violating disciplinary rules concerning bribes from online gambling websites.
According to Thai News Agency, the Police Complaints Review Committee (PCC) has completed a seven-month investigation, prompted by a complaint from Sittra Biabangkerd, also known as Lawyer Tum, in March 2024. The investigation revealed that Pol. Gen. Torsak and his associates had engaged in disciplinary violations by accepting bribes from an online gambling ring.
The PCC is set to clarify the findings and consider appropriate punishments. The officers involved will have the opportunity to clarify the allegations against them, after which the committee will assess their clarifications to determine the severity of the disciplinary measures. The Royal Thai Police (RTP) will then be responsible for further action based on the committee's decision.
The Royal Thai Police cannot reconvene the investigation unless new evidence or compelling arguments emerge that could change the outcome of the case. The National Police Commission underscores its dedication to maintaining fairness for all parties involved.
