Nakhon sawan: In an unexpected development, "Phra Thammawachirathirakun", the former abbot of a prominent temple in Nakhon Sawan province, has officially disrobed. The ceremony took place at the Nakhon Sawan Royal Monastery.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Booncherd Kittitharangkun, Deputy Director of the National Office of Buddhism, reported receiving information from the Director of the Office of Buddhism of Nakhon Sawan Province. The report confirmed that "Phra Thammawachirathirakun", who formerly served as the abbot of Wat Nakhon Sawan and was also the provincial ecclesiastical leader, disrobed at the Ubosot of Wat Nakhon Sawan Royal Monastery precisely at 11:49 p.m.
Previously, the Northern Sangha Supreme Council's secretary announced that "Phra Thammawachirathirakun" intended to resign from his positions as abbot of Wat Sawan and provincial abbot of Nakhon Sawan, effective from July 18, 2025. The resignation was attributed to health concerns.
