Bangkok: A fire erupted in the nurses' dormitory at Siriraj Hospital, with emergency officials swiftly bringing the situation under control and ensuring the safe rescue of those trapped inside.
According to Thai News Agency, the fire began on June 29, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m. The Joint Radio Center reported the incident occurring within the Paet Rai nurses' dormitory located on Railway Road, Siriraj Subdistrict, Bang Khun Non District.
Bang Khun Non Fire and Rescue Department officers responded promptly, arriving to find significant smoke emanating from the basement floor. Rescue teams conducted an immediate inspection of the premises and executed an evacuation of individuals trapped on the higher floors.
By 12:55 p.m., responders identified the fire's origin in the basement. Firefighters used water to combat the blaze. Additionally, a rescue operation was conducted to free a person trapped in an elevator on the 12th floor, with the combined efforts of officers and building elevator technicians leading to a successful extraction.
The fire was fully extinguished by 1:04 p.m., with no reports of injuries.
